A light and fruity red wine by Meinklang in Burgenland, Austria.
It’s an interesting blend of Zweigelt and St Laurent (a variety related to Pinot Noir).
The perfect wine to put in the fridge and crack open outdoors, as an aperitif before a meal or on a Sunday afternoon.
Lovely, pronounced aromas of ripe blackberries and baked cherry pie / cherry compote, the palate is easy going with a bunch of sour cherries and nice, plentiful acidity that keeps things fresh.
You’d be tempted to think this is just another great “gluglu” bottle, but if you drink the first two glasses slowly and give it about 10-20 minutes, the wine will open up and reveal a deep and rounder flavour profile. Altogether delicious and superb value.
