“Sumoll The Great” Massis Del Garraf, Spain

£18.00 a bottle

Out of stock

Sumoll is a grape variety endemic to the Penedes region in Catalunya (The same place where the famous cavas are produced). It is relatively unknown due to its scarcity, being a demanding vine to maintain. This carefully looked after plot of red Sumoll was planted in 1947 and produces an elegant fruit that is in turn skilfully elaborated into this brilliant natural red wine. Extremely drinkable with forest fruit aromas, good acidity with a palate showing kindred fruit spice and interesting notes of aromatic herbs. Would be best enjoyed an hour or more after opening. Very limited production.

INFO ON GROWER

Located in the Massis Del Garraf, a mountainous region 30 kilometres west of Barcelona. Jot, a talented young winemaker holds the reigns of this historic vineland and farmhouse dating back to 1549. The crops around the vineyard are typical to a Mediterranean climate (hot summers and cold winters) such as olive trees, Almond trees and of course – the grapevines. The wines are made pure without any additives and result in expressive flavours and character.
